0.01 (PROTOTYPE) WELCOME


Hey everyone and WELCOME to the start of development for "game 2"


WHAT am I doing?
I'm trying to make my second commercial game within two months.


WHY am I doing it?

University starts in two months and I have been heavily inspired by @miziziziz and @wombatstuff's individual efforts in making a commercial game in one month.


WHO am I?
My name's Ben and I go by "plufmot" online. I usually make free games on Newgrounds but I've also started making commercial games.
I put out my first commercial game "Blue Boy: Bleeding Out" on itch.io and Steam back in June.


WHAT are my PLANS for the game?

I'm still figuring out exactly what I want to do with it, but I have a rough idea. Lots of things will probably change though.
Here are my inspirations that I hope to mix together into one delicious game.
- Spelunky's secrets
- Banjo Kazooie's collectables
- Alien Hominid / Contra's boss'
- Super Mario World's overworld
- Gutwhale's sound effect and music options
- Super Mario Bros. 2's levels (western release)
- Don Doko Don / DuckTales / Zelda BotW's player movement
- Probably some dumb & basic enemies like on old nes games


What about ART / AUDIO? You suck at that!
I plan to make the game with my own poorly made art / audio and then once the game's close to completion, hire people to re-do it. Ideally I would pitch the game to a publisher and get them to pay for that + deal with the marketing / store stuff (I love making games, I hate marketing / setting up store stuff) I do plan on keeping my poorly made art / audio in the final release as a video / audio option though.

Will the game be FREE?
Yes and no, but mainly no.
The game will be released in three stages. Prototype, Early Access, and Final Release.
- Prototype builds will be free and updated regularly
- Early Access will cost $? and start once the game can be completed from start to finish. It will lack certain features that the final release will contain (e.g. achievements, updated art / audio, etc)
- Final release will cost $$? and start once the game is complete.
